Jakarta (13 December 2020) – ASUS announced the ranks The Latest ROG Gaming Laptop which comes with the latest display technology, ranging from screens with 4K 120Hz panels, WQHD 165Hz, and FHD 360Hz. First introduced at CES 2021, the line of laptops with the most sophisticated screens in the world is here to satisfy and pamper gamers.
ROG gaming laptops that use the latest screen technology include the ROG Strix SCAR 17 which comes with a 360Hz / 3ms panel for professional esports gamers, as well as the dual screen ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE gaming laptop which features a 4K 120Hz panel. While other ROG gaming laptop variants will come with a 165Hz WQHD panel variation that is capable of displaying graphic content sharper and better than an FHD resolution panel.
The screen technology that is carried by the ROG gaming laptop lineup this time not only promises a better gaming experience for gamers, but also provides the best color reproduction quality for content creators.
Leading Laptop Gaming Screen Technology
Speed is the most crucial thing on a screen for a gaming laptop. This has always been the main focus of the ROG team in developing laptop screen technology. ROG has long been a leader in the gaming display industry and was the first to bring a 120Hz IPS-level display to the market.
ROG continues to innovate and bring Overdrive technology from gaming monitors to laptop screens, so that for the first time a laptop screen can have a very fast refresh rate and a very short response time. Of course ROG will continue to develop screens with better refresh rates and shorter response times, all without sacrificing the quality of color reproduction.
One of the achievements of the ROG team in developing a high-speed screen is found in the ROG Strix SCAR 17 gaming laptop which carries a screen with a 360Hz / 3ms panel, making it appear as the gaming laptop with the fastest screen in the world today. The screen performance on the ROG Strix SCAR 17 resembles that of the ROG Swift gaming monitor which shares a 360Hz panel, while a 3ms response time can be achieved thanks to a special algorithm that is also used in the ROG gaming monitor line.
ROG Strix SCAR 17 is a laptop specifically designed for esports gamers and the presence of a screen with fast refresh rates and short response times is one of the most important things. Using a 360Hz panel will cut the delay time each time a frame is displayed by up to 33% from a 240Hz panel. This will greatly affect professional gamers whose victory is largely determined by the speed of response and the ability of the screen to display images as quickly as possible.
For now, a screen with a 360Hz / 3ms panel is only available on the ROG Strix SCAR 17. Other ROG gaming laptop variants such as the ROG Strix SCAR 15 and ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE will feature a 300Hz / 3ms panel.
Balance Speed and Resolution
The gaming community is not only limited to esports. That’s why ROG focuses on developing screen technology with an IPS-level panel. Unlike other panel technologies, IPS-level is capable of performing with a fast refresh rate and short response time, but still has a wide viewing angle and high color reproduction capabilities. In 2020, ROG was even able to present a ROG Zephyrus gaming laptop that carries a 300Hz panel but still has high and accurate color reproduction quality and has received PANTONE Validated certification.
Using a high-resolution screen will also cause problems, because the higher the screen resolution, the lower the refresh rate. Previously, a 4K UHD resolution screen could only appear with a 60Hz refresh rate, which of course is no longer the standard for gaming. For this reason, the ROG team is presenting the latest innovations that will raise industry standards on gaming laptop screens.
One of the latest innovations presented by the ROG team this time is on the dual screen gaming laptop ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE. This gaming laptop has a variant that carries a 4K UHD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 3ms response time. Not only that, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE screen has a high and accurate color reproduction rate with a color gamut of up to 100% in Adobe RGB and has the PANTONE Validated certification.
Not only in the premium gaming laptop lineup, the ROG team is also committed to bringing these innovations so that they can be accessed by more gamers. In September 2020, ASUS ROG is the first gaming laptop manufacturer in the world to introduce a WQHD screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels which also appears with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. This screen technology will set a new standard in the gaming laptop industry and will be available in the ROG gaming laptop lineup such as the ROG Zephyrus G15, ROG Strix G15, and ROG Strix G17.
Innovations on a Small Screen
High-performance screens will not only be presented on large screen gaming laptops. Gaming laptops with 14-inch screen sizes like the ROG Zephyrus G14 will also get an upgrade, namely a screen with WQHD resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. Just like the previous generation, ROG Zephyrus G14 also has a high and accurate color reproduction rate, and has pocketed the PANTONE Validated certification. This makes ROG Zephyrus G14 ideal as a very powerful “do-it-all laptop”, both for playing games, enjoying multimedia entertainment, even for content creation.
This year, ROG also presents a new, very special gaming laptop, the ROG Flow X13. This innovative gaming laptop carries a 13-inch screen embedded in a very compact 2-in-1 form-factor. Even so, the ROG team was able to present an FHD resolution screen with a 120Hz refresh rate with a 16:10 screen ratio which allows more space for work space. The screen supported on the ROG Flow X13 also features a touchscreen and supports the use of a stylus.
