Telegram now has a new feature which they call the alpha version of video calls. This new feature is claimed by the developer to be able to meet the “direct communication needs” which are increasingly being used by users today, especially during a pandemic.
This update is available for both Android and iOS users, including the convenience of starting the video call process. The thing that the user needs to do is tap on the profile page of the person you want to contact, where the user can activate or deactivate the video at any time during the call.
This new feature also supports picture-in-picture mode, so users can continue scrolling through the app if a call feels boring. Video calls will have edge-to-edge encryption, claims Telegram, one of its app-defining features for audio calls and SMS.
“Our app for Android and iOS has a reproducible version, so anyone can verify encryption and confirm that their app uses the exact same open source code we publish with each update,” said Telegram.
This messaging application is growing in popularity, moreover Telegram claims that since it was launched in 2013, they have had 400 million users. It’s certainly not just an application, let alone in the top 10 list of frequently downloaded applications.
Well, the presence of a new alpha version of the video call feature can certainly provide many extra benefits for users. Besides that, animated emojis are also one of Telegram’s new choices, which of course will make it more exciting when chatting or calling with colleagues or loved ones.
